ProtSweep uses a cascading database search stategy to find the most similar sequence(s) to your
query. It uses the databases SwissProt, Trembl (together also called UniProt) and RefSeq
as well as the Ensembl system to annotate your input protein via sequence homology.
In this release, ProtSweep now employs an improved strategy to deal with splice variants.
UniProt very often does NOT contain all protein variations of a gene, so in previous versions
some annotation could be lost. ProtSweep now also runs a Blast search against all splice
variants of all proteins in SwissProt.
ProtSweep was also updated to use 26 organisms from the Ensembl database (only 8 in the previous version).
